B Turner - "I love coming to Elizabeth City. The harbor is so beautiful. A great place to kayak." (December 4, 2009) Sharon Larrison Stepniewski from Finally Fun a 50' DeFever Trawler - "Elizabeth City is truly the epitome of that elusive Southern Hospitality, with its citizens welcoming boaters with friendly smiles, a hearty Hello and arms held out to take a line to assist with docking. We so enjoyed our two days tied to your city wall, meeting numerous curious townspeople who stopped by to look, to say hello and to question us about our cruising lifestyle. These same citizens often offered assistance, offered a ride, offered insights into where to go and what to do and made us feel so welcome. The cocktail parties at dockside hosted by your Visitor Center were so fun, giving the boaters an opportunity to meet fellow boaters and more citizens from Elizabeth City. The word has spread - Elizabeth City is a MUST stop and now I know why. We shall certain continue to stop on our way north and later southbound each year to renew friendships made this year, spend our money in support of your local businesses as our way of saying Thank YOU and also because the citizens of Elizabeth City make the experience so pleasurable. Thanks for all you do!" (November 16, 2009) John and Charlotte Riordan of Fairfax, Virginia - "We enjoyed our stay last weekend at The Hampton Inn in Elizabeth City. We were very fortunate to get an Executive Room with a Jacuzzi and a small sink/fridge & a dining table. The TV was a flat screen with plenty of stations (got to see all the college football games I wanted to see). The room was clean with a King Size bed. The Free Continental Breakfast was above average with fruit salads and fresh fruit. Elizabeth City is a delightful place where people are very hospitable and a great place for the boaters to dock. The lobby was spacious and the free-internet was great both at the computer in the lobby and the wireless connection in the room. Elizabeth City is also a great location for a day trip to the Outer Bank and to explore the Dismal Swamp. We played golf at the Pines and had a very enjoyable round. The Pines also has an excellent practice area with a driving range and a practice green for chipping and sand shots. I highly recommend the Hampton Inn and you're sure to enjoy Elizabeth City." (October 26, 2009) Robert and Norma Martin of Danville, Virginia - "Norma and I had a wonderful time in Elizabeth City, We had planned our trip to your wonderful city because of the art show, Norma is an artist, and we do art shows. Winning the Getaway was extra special. This is the first year we have done the show in your city, and because everyone we met in your wonderful town was so nice to us we will be back next year. If anyone has an opportunity to visit your fair city, they should. If they don’t they will have missed a wonderful opportunity, as I said the people go out of there way to be nice, and it is a beautiful little town. Tell Charlotte, Hello and Thanks for Everything." |
